There seems to be a hell of a lot of people out there just looking for someone to savage, and so many threads of so many forums are ruined because of it. Have we really become such an unfriendly society or do forums just provide a safe outlet for closet bullies? Cheers, Dan

Thanks mate I reckon $1 a k is about average but could be done for less if free camping and existing on noodles LOL Your ferry cost equates to one of our flights so evens out.

sue n stu wrote: Hey Hillbilly, I for one will be printing your list and taking it with us when we head out to the great yonder in 12 weeks. Like you we don't want pools or playgrounds, just clean, tidy and friendly places to stay a day or 2. We're heading from Karratha up to Darwin and over to Queensland - no plans except for Darwin in June for the V8 supercars and that's it. So we'll pretty much follow your list backwards!! thanks Sue and Stu We are going around Australia, leaving in Sept 2011 as we retire then. We have bought the cruiser and the van and can't wait to head off. So any tips from any of you out there wold be appreciated. We happen to like the parks with ensuites as we don't have one and have found them handy so if anyone can tell us what parks have them and where etc that again would be helpful too.

If you join whichever motoring club is in your state Like RACQ you can get maps and a book with most van parks in Those that have ensuites have them listed with prices. You could add anywhere from $70 to well over $100 a week extra for the use of them Thats $1400 to $2000 for 5 months Also join Big4 and Top Tourist as you get up to 30$ or 10% off per stay. We found it worth while. Dont be shy Ensuite sites cost a bomb in some parks and as we found you have to clean them yourselves and pay extra for the privilege. We only had 3 ensuite sites Lakeview at Jabiru $30 as thats all they have. Mt Compass, stayed 7 weeks given ensuite site as was really quiet and saved owners from cleaning amenities block $22.50 with discount for long term Territory Manor. Ensuites were separated by bits of corrugated iron from knee to head height. Could hear next door person change their mind never mind other noises. When I flushed the loo it spat the lot over the top onto the floor. Management not concerned. Demanded money back or ring health authorities.. Park was scruffy with tree branches everywhere looked uncared for. Hence the minus 5 rating. Message me for any more info

Caravan parks in East Gippsland Victoria
Family parks in Lakes Entrance East Gippsland Victoria. The park which has improved in leaps and bounds is the Eastern Beach Caravan Park, Eastern Beach road Lakes Entrance, This Park has had a complete face lift with New Management, the whole park has had bitument roads all around ,last year I got bogged in the bottom half of the park but it could have rained for a week now and you still would not get stuck, All the sites are clearly layed out and numbered and there is no difference between the top end and the bottom end of the park, It has security entrances with a chain lock which can only be opened if you have a security code you punch in and the chain gate drops with plenty of time to go through and the chain locks again. It has the beach on one end of park for easy access, play area for kids and entertainment on the arena about 4/5 nights a week. With the improvements done in this park it deserves my top marks. Waters Edge Caravan Park in the heart of the town is a great family park with good amenities, Pool and a safe play area for kids. This has been the top Park in Lakes Entrance for the past 40 odd years that I have worked in and out of all the Caravan Parks in Lakes,You don't have to take your car out once you are on site unless you wish to go out of town. Only the improvements made in Eastern Beach has earned it the Top marks but closely pushed Waters Edge

Rate a park from 1 - 5 or 1 -10 or even 1 - 100. Whatever system suits your particular requirements. But as a foot note for those that don't know, the AAA Tourism Star Rating Advantage Scheme uses a 1000 point sytem to define a parks Star Rating. ozjohn.
