Re: Good books
[quote=”Crazyhorse”]Dan, I just bought (on Kindle) “A Thousand words for Stranger”…to see if I agree with your assessment…you may like a Jim Butcher book…try the first in the series “Storm Front”…you MAY enjoy them and there are about 15 in the series…about 7000 pages…
Hi Crazyhorse,
You might have a bit of difficulty with “A thousand words for Stranger” as it is not the first in the clan series. I’m not certain but I think the first is “Riders of the Storm” or something like that. “A thousand words for Stranger” might be the first of the second series. I deleted them from the Kobo when I finished reading them so I can’t check.
I’ll have a look at “Storm Front”. Thanks for that.
Cheers,
Dan

Re: Good books
Title of this post seems to be open…so here goes.
Recently re-read one of my older favourites: Morris West – The Second Victory.
Got for Xmas a few months ago: The Monuments Men – Robert M Edsel….very interesting read on the true story behind the team of allied art experts gathered together to retrieve stolen artworks etc from the Nazis from the moment of the Normandy landings.
About to start re-reading another old Ken Follet novel – Hornet Flight.

Re: Good books
Now being a Queenslander, I recently read a book called ….
Code of Practice by ex Qld Police Inspector Col Dillon.
It relates to his years of service during our corrupt police force and the Fitzgerald Inquiry.
We had some bad apples in the barrel back in those days.

There are still a few bad apples being caught out in QPS; from invasion of privacy to unlawfull assault with a weapon. All police services suffer from this situation.

One of the best “can’t put down books” we have read is –
Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea, by Garry Kinder.

Re: Good books
Hi there,
I recon Ebooks are the way to go, particularly when Caravanning.
Easy to carry plenty of books in one small package.
Also, Ebooks can be very easily “Emailed” between Mates, as an Attachment.
I have a Kobo, as it reads Ebooks in All Formats.
To my knowledge, Kindle only reads Mobi Files.
Plenty of “Free Ebooks” on The Net, if you know where to look.
With an “Ebook Library of Thousands”, I’ll never read them all, but I hope to “Die Trying”.
Tar Trekka.
Any day above the ground is a great day.

The books i have been reading lately, i can recommend them all, as you can see i get them from the library i rarely get a book twice unless i forget the title, but then it hasn’t cost me anything.
