The communicstion ombudsman (along with every other ombudsman) is a industry funded body not government and will not help you if they believe the phone has been water damaged

As a last resort you can always ask the what TV channel they like to watch and then ring 'Current Affair' or 'Today Tonight' and ask them to help. :razz:

Hi all I would like to thank everyone for their input the outcome to my tale of woe is that I did contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombusman which has resulted in a new phone been issued to me. So it goes to show if you follow the advice from your peers the results will come. Thanks once again to all

problem with dodo at the moment;
pre-paid with expiry date of 23 nov so on 21 nov i tried recharging, their computer said need human help; human help said the recharge was a sucess (not true as i found out next day)
another call and the person couldn't help; flicked me to a supervisor who said 'will fix, call you back at 4pm'.
needless to say didn't happen and on 24 nov my service was terminated with them grabbing all my previous credit & not allowing me access to even ring them to complain.
email sent to TIO who suggest that 10 days will be back to me; will keep you posted

And I just noticed the advert at the bottom of this thread promising if you 'click here' you could win an Apple I Phone.

Talk about bad timing! :razz:

dodo problem update
on friday i got a reply from TIO saying they had given dodo 10 days to contact me
today (weds) they did; spoke to the guy & then forwarded the full text of my actions
he said he'd call back after reading it, i checked & he had credited me with $30 & 52days access.
when he rung back he said that i got a goodwill gesture of double my dispute; i suggested that he re-read & that had their system worked i would have had $34.85 & the same access & they had removed my free talk time (also 52 days access is actually charging me for 8 days that i was unable to use the system)
next time i checked i now have $80 credit ($45more) access to 1 april (59 extra days) & double my free talk time
was it worth the email to the TIO? YES!!!!
problem solved (until next time :lol: )

I had a similar problem, and the tech told me there is strip of paper in the phone, usually under the battery. That turns pink when in contact with moisture. Mine was pink, so no warrenty.

This is true. My son worked as a tech for a Nokia repairer. Part of his job was to check the phones for water ingress before warranty repairs could be done.
