The Yamaha has a cast iron liner against Honda's aluminium bore.

Yamaha has large size filler cap compared to Honda's tiny filler cap which is a pain to refill.

Yamaha has nearly twice the fuel capacity.

Yamaha has all controls on one panel.

Yamaha has proper fuel tap and Honda has none. If you are carrying Honda in vehicle or caravan boot they smell of fuel all the time as the fuel drips from the air filter on long trips.

The Yamaha has a bigger engine and does approximately a 1,000 rpm less than the Honda which means less noise and slightly lower fuel consumption.
Tx William ,very informative answer.Cheers Neil

The Honda claims 52db when running whereas the Yamaha claims 45db.

I have my order in for a Yamaha for Christmas.

Wiliam,
Does this also apply to the 2000 and 2400 Yamaha models. IE. Fuels/bore materials/filler cap/controls aspects you mentioned as I have been looking at both Honda and Yamaha and was going to flip a coin. I might not have to now.
Regards, KayMart

Kay if you can afford the extra weight of the Yamaha 2400 that would be the top choice, especially if you intend to power a van or m/h air con.

The Yamaha EF2000 has better motor starting capability than the Honda EU20 and does not fail in the heat like Honda EU20. The Yamaha EF2000 has a slightly bigger motor than Honda EU20 and does less revs. At low power loads the Yamaha does approx 800rpm less than Honda. The choice is clear Yamaha.
