Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival, 4-6 June
State: NSW
Website: www.henrylawsonfestival.com.au
Henry Lawson, one of Australia’s most beloved and renowned writers and poets, was born on the gold fields near Grenfell back in 1867. For almost 60 years the town of Grenfell have been celebrating the life and work of Lawson, as well as other aspiring Australians artists. There are poetry, art and short story competitions but one of the highlights is hearing bush poetry on Sunday morning at the Henry Lawson Obelisk, where you can grab some billy tea and damper by a campfire. Plus, not to mention the classic Guinea Pig Races!
