I remember when we bought them off the drawing. I was still in Primary school. There was a lot of controversy over the delivery and cracks in the wings. They were often the subjects of the cartoonist of the day.

Did they ever see action?

The American one's saw a lot of action. They were used quite extensively in the first of the Gulf Wars. I may be wrong but I think some of ours were used in both Gulf wars for photoreconnaissance. I do know that at least one of our planes was permanently set up and used in this roll.

The Pom's used them to try and take out Gadafi by bombing where they thought he was, but they missed him.

They flew direct from Pommy land and conducted mid-air refuelling there and back.

We used them to conduct some recon over East Timor in 99.
