I will say it again .
If you are a pensioner in NSW you don't have to pay rego. if you have the tug in one partners name and the van in the other .
You get one free vehicle registration per person .

A'van.
If as a pensioner you pay no rego in NSW what is the fee they charge to own a caravan in NSW. :?:

G'day Wanderer .

There is no fee , except a 10% of the value of the purchase price , rego. transfer fee .
But talk to your local RTA about the rules .
As a pensioner we also get a free drivers licence .

I hope this helps .
Regards Hans.

G'day Hans. so what fee/fees do you pay annually to keep the car or van on the road as a "registered vehicle".And if you get a free drivers licence how do you renew it, they may as well not bother renewing something that they give for free.

We live right on the border and heaps of people that live in NSW around here have there cars, vans, trailers and even boats registered at family and friends houses over the border in victoria. And why wouldnt you, vehicle reg in victoria is around $500 and heaps more in NSW. The difference with the van rego is a normal NSW rought. When I had a jet ski it was just as bad, I payed $37 for each trailer and ski but a mate that lived in NSW payed $65 for the trailer and $250 for the ski, just outragous. I wouldnt move over the border to NSW because of the rego cost alone.

Hey.
We got to renew our rego and licence so they can check our vision and take a photo .

It's stupid that each state got their own rules, fees, police and many other things. Australia is, supposed to be, one country, so one set of laws.

But what actual fees do you pay when you renew your rego. :?: Do you pay CTP,,gov. levy/stamp duty,,insurance,, etc etc.
I can't believe you pay nothing in NSW to keep your car on the roads, when everyone else in NSW complains about rego costs on cars & caravans.

O yes we got to pay for Green slip insurance .
If the car is over 3 years old , it got to have a rego. check by a certified mechanic , not sure how much that cost , it goes up nearly every year , 30-40 $

I dont think you have to get the vehicle inspection now until the vehicle is 5 years old. A step backwards, I believe, when I see the amount of late model cars with blown lights and other minor defects. Lets face it there are very few Police about patrolling to pick up these defects. The Government is finding policing by camera cheaper.

I think it's like a roadworthy certificate and the insurance is Compulsory third party CTP like our Traffic Accident Insurance TAC.

So with free rego, what other costs are involved to register in NSW CTP etc.
