G'day Sarah,
one tip I have, may be able to be used, making a choofer, look at the thread "Choofers" in Bright ideas, you can use that if you wish.

Budget tips.
Hi Sarah.
Apart from the obvious Free camps are cheaper than Caravan Parks, we've found enormous savings (around $20.00 per day for the two of us) can be had by simply making sandwiches and a thermos for lunch whilst travelling instead of buying takeaways..even the humble toasted cheese and tomato sangers with tea at a servo for morning tea can cost $15.00 or more. (one Hamburger with the lot at Nanutara roadhouse = $17.00!!!!)
On a 6 month trip last year, we estimate we saved over $2,000. !!!!

Big money saver
Hi again Sarah
Have mentioned this before but another huge money saver for those doing the big circuit or even only a circle taking in half the Continent...Is to travel Anti Clockwise!! You'll still see everything but the distance is greatly reduced.

Geeeeeez, what's the kitchen for? We are with you, always sangers and a thermos, not just to save money but also to have a decent lunch.

Money does not come into the issue. We prefer to eat fresh and low fat, and without others Enterohaemorrhagic E.coli bacteria. Buy 9kg refills at the gas company in cities. Only $19 compared to $35 in the country.

Just a thought. Okay!!! here is a good tip to save. We use the fuel voucher from Big W and K Mart and also Liguirland and BWS for 4 cent rebate at Servo when applicable. We then shop with IGA stores where possible, as they will give us up to another 4 cents per litre rebate by producing the cash sale docket from the Servo. Now some vehicles can take around 100 litres at 4 cents = $4.00 for a spend of $ 30. in IGA. Double that by going thru twice and presto $8.00 rebate equates to $400 per year or pro rata there of. Not sure if all IGA stores through out Aussie participate. I guess if no opposition they would not. Some IGA have a double up day each week, so even more saving $$$$. As mentioned earlier, Free Camping is a great saving. Also we have own Wash Machine and saving of $ 8 per wash day also adds up. a MacJayDee feed will beat a big Mac any day.
Good vanning
