Hi Wayne and Di, My nav was exactly the same for a long time, but you just gotta do it. We have had friends lately that were going, but they were called upstairs too early. They did'nt get to go. We are only 46 & 55, so we have lots of time, but you just don't know whats around the corner. So with that in mind we did the research and made the backup plans and got all the ducks in a row and as soon as the house sells we're off, Highway 1 here we come, we are still working though, this is more of a lifestyle change than anything else. Just put the nav in the jump seat and go. Regards Steve and Karen.

Re: New members saying Hi...
Hi guys, We leave on the 1st March 2011 and are counting the days!! We are in the process of packing up the house, ready to sell - hopefully before we leave. We live in Mount Isa with one daughter wanting to stay here and another living in Weipa. Doug is 46 and I'm a year older, we've been working in the mines for the last 15 years and have been fortunate enough (thru a lot of hard work) to have a couple of investment properties in Cairns & Townsville. We will be taking Doug's LSL/AL first (30 glorious weeks) which will be strictly a holiday then afterwards we'll be travelling/working as we need to. We have put so much thought into our adventure, leaning this way and that, but came to the conclusion we should do it now rather than later as this will give us more time to spend with our parents who live in SW NSW, who we haven't been able to spend much time with over the years. We've been offered work already and have contacts all over so we aren't really concerned about finding work as we're willing to do almost anything. Our travels are so exciting to think about; we'll be heading to Griffith/Deniliquin for a family wedding where we can catch up with family before heading off along the Murray, thru SA, across the Nullabour, SW WA and up the WA coast, Darwin and back to Mount Isa to resign!! After that, it's the great unknown... Who knows, maybe we'll catch up with you out there

Re: New members saying Hi...
Hey Isalot, your plans sound a lot like ours. We are heading off in early March from (soggy) NE Vic. Heading to Mildura first, then down to the Yorke peninsula and up to Adelaide where we have a son. Will stay there for a few (??) days and then head across the Nullabour to Perth, where I have a niece. Then up the WA coast line to Exmouth (where son was stationed in the air-force for a while) and onto Broome. How long this takes is like the preverbial piece of string!!! Would love to take in the Darwin cup on 1st Aug but this may be cutting things too fine so will just wing it and see. Might catch you on the road somewhere. Gemini & Leo

Hey Gemini & Leo, would love to catch up with you somewhere - we'll probably cross paths a few times; we seem to be heading in the same direction! Our trip seems to have overtaken our lives: we talk about it constantly, day dream about it, dream about it.....lol We're getting down to the nitty gritty, what sort of laptop will we get, do we need to take many winter clothes, slow cooker, how many pairs of sheets, towells, a new mobile phone, how many tools (Doug's a mechanic), arrange for as many bills to be emailed etc etc etc. It's so much fun!! Cheers for now,

Re: New members saying Hi...
Hi welcome to the forum I get asked if I want a job quite often when travelling. If you come across as friendly, easy to get along with, you'll be right. Took me 12 months to get across the Nullabor once, spent 12 months at Mundrabilla then got 3 job offers on the out.
A friend got a 4 month job in the Kimberlys recently, just free camped and the ranger came over, got talking and ended up giving them work.
Good luck keep us posted.
