Dark Mofo, 12-22 June
In the dead of chilly winter, Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art are putting on their third annual Dark Mofo festival. Don’t be put off by the name, Dark Mofo is a celebration of art, music, food and the ancient and contemporary themes surrounding the winter solstice, like light and dark, birth and death, fire and noise! There are a number of fascinating and intimate events taking place across Hobart city, including large scale artworks, fusions of jazz and blues, late-night ceremonial death dances, lots of fire, and of course, if you’re brave enough, the nude solstice swim. Don’t forget to really rug up during the festival!
