Strange scenes at Scarness Carvavan Park this week as a local protester halted the felling of felling of trees.

The trees were to be cut down due to complaints from vanners of Lorikeet noise and droppings soiling their vans.

As vanners looked on, lone protester Rod Dudgeon refused to budge - standing beneath and between the trees, halting work for approximately 30 minutes.

Police were called, and Mr Dudgeon moved on before the authorities arrived.

Vanner David Peel was staying at the park at the time, saying the noise didn’t bother him, but the bird droppings could be problematic “It gets stuck on the roof and the solar panels and if you don’t clean it off it dries and lifts the paint,” he said.

Mr Peel said each afternoon a group of campers “grabbed a beer and watch the bird show”. “The birds don’t worry me,” he said.
