Giant trees easily toppled over causing immense damage,But this guy resisted LOL.

ONE gate open today, news said tomorrow all 5 will be open to avoid damage to the dam wall.

emergency channel full of raging white water

Ofcourse the water HAS to go somewhere,LOTS of crossings underwater but this is the famous Twin Bridges

IF all 5 gates are openned then Twin bridges will be several meters under.

Yep, the Wivenhoe Dam is west- north west of Ipswich in Qld. If they open those 5 gates, then there is going to be some flooding. The water released each day is supposed to be equivelant to 4 months water requirements for Brisbane.
What a waste, ashame they cannot divert it up to Toowoomba ( Dam level approx 50%)and the Darling Downs. Could also use it in the Darling River system.
But that Politicans for you. No foresight.
Great Photos Rod.

some weeks ago while we were still away, wivenhoe openned all 5 gates.

My Daughter drove out and there was a 3 km que out onto the highway.

After an hour or so in the que she parked on the swide of the road out of the way [but inside the property],she then walked approx 2 kms to the viewing platform where there was a 100M long que.

But she did get to see it fully open and the water was less than a meter below the BIG new bridge on the highway at twin bridges.

Thats an Immense amount of water.

IF they do open all 5 tomorrow ill take another trip BUT if its a big que then im turning around LOL.

Being a work day maybe it might not be so bad.

Cheers Rod

I totally agree Jay&Dee, it is a disgusting IMO and they can send it up to Toowoomba...... but won't. It seems there is some petty issue over who is going to pay for it!!!!

Don't count on that happening. Last time I was out there on a work day the line up was several klms long. Had the van in tow as we were on our way home from a short trip away as well. They were diverting traffic up around the back blocks making it one way in and a different way out.

Remember it is now school holidays as well.

last nights news said 3 gates today.

they also said the 2 days of sunshine we're currently having is going to change tonight back to rain, solid at times.

if it does get heavy rain again then 5 gates will be assured in my opinion.lets see anyway.

Cheers Rod
