How to post images

Post by nimdA » Mon Dec 04, 2017 9:01 am

Guidelines for the posting of images (photographs or graphics) on the forum.

Windows Operating System

Step 1. Refer to Forum Limitations below.

Step 2. Prepare your image(s) for posting mindful of the Forum limits.

Step 3. Create a post that will contain your image(s). A minimum of 5 text characters must be entered in the message composition window for a valid post.

Step 4. Click on the [Attachments] button then the [Add files] button shown below and select one or more of your images from where you have them saved. Depending upon your internet connection speed the images may take several seconds to upload. You will know when each has loaded when the [Place inline] button appears.

Step 5. Complete your post text and click on the post [Preview] button. Either edit your post or click on [Submit]

Step 6. Verify that your post appears as you wish and if not use the [Edit] button to make changes. The Edit function is available for 15 minutes.

Alternative Step 4.

Using your pointing device (mouse or finger) select one or more of your of your images from where you have them saved and then drag them to the forum message composition window. If you cannot see the forum composition window because it is covered by another app then drag your images to the bottom of your screen and over the forum tab to open it then back up to drop your images into the composition window. Depending upon your internet connection speed the images may take several seconds to upload. You will know when each has loaded when the [Place inline] button appears.

Forum Limitations:

The forum imposes certain limits to keep the amount of data stored in our system to a reasonable amount. The first consideration is the size of the uploaded file. This needs to be kept under 512 kilobytes otherwise the upload will be rejected.

The second limitation determines whether the image is displayed imbedded within the post text or appears only as a link that needs to be clicked and the image is then downloaded. This limitation is the height and width of the image and measured in a unit called pixels. The forum limit is 900 pixels.

The third limitation is the type of image file and this is shown as the last part of a file name. Acceptable file extensions are: gif, jpeg, jpg, png, tga, tif, tiff

To keep your original images within these forum limits you may need to reduce the size of your image file in kilobytes or the image height or width in pixels and there are several ways to achieve this. Rather than identify any we suggest that if your Operating System does not offer methods that you search for software or websites that perform these common services.

Once you have your final image(s) saved in a folder on your device you need to make a mental note of where that is. You may attach up to 6 images to the one post
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
