Mark
On your list you show a caravan park in the ACT.
I'm sorry but I must take issue with you here - its a simple fact - there are no decent caravan parks in the ACT
Fact
I've stayed in them all, including the two in Queanbeyan.

Its a disgrace really - the Nation's capital - :?:

The one you mention, caters for school groups and often has many large buses staying complete with numerous short people.
And - the area given to vans is a small tight area, where if you park in the allotted space, your awning almost touches the van next door!??? And yet the park it self is huge - large open spaces?

No - sorry - places like Ariah Park are much nicer - and the people at Ariah park are so friendly.

Peter

We enjooyed very much our stay at the North Star Holiday Resort at Hasting Point.
Excellent amenities and valet parking, however one has to pay an excess for this privilege.

I must agree with peter915 about the ACT C/P's.

Canberra Motor Village does not even have a dump point, which is appalling for a major C/P in this day and age.

Nearest dump point is the main tourist Information centre, about 3kms away.

No C/P in the ACT would get my vote.

Cheers,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions everyone, the list is getting shorter!
Peter and rvator2 I hear your advice about the ACT and I've cut it from the list. It looks like someone in Canberra could make a quid by opening a park with good facilities in a nice location.
I'll propbably put a list up soon when I've narrowed down to ten and you can have your say and maybe even vote for your favorite park if it's in the list. Don't worry if your favorite didn't make though, I'll make sure to keep it in mind for future articles.

Thanks again,
keep the comments coming

Trial Bay Gaol at South West Rocks is in a fantastic location. Amenities are satisfactory. People do need to check prices in peak times and it is worth knowing that it is often very hard to get a spot during those times.

Given that SWR is the only nomination for NSW, I would like to second Ozjohn's vote for Lane Cove National Park in Sydney. The location is second to none and very convenient to public transport, both buses and trains.

If you are looking for a park near a beach then Darlington Beach Resort near Woolgoolga/Coffs Harbour is also worth considering. The sites are enormous. However, this previous Big 4, now NRMA, does have variable pricing and the ubiquitious jumping pillow could be a negative aspect.

I do think, Mark, that the top ten parks for families would not be the top ten parks for couples or singles. You might need to have a couple of categories to really make the lists meaningful.

Good luck, anyway.
