Post Trail-A-Mate
Does anyone know where I can get parts or service for a trail-a-mate in the west Qld area (am currently in St George). This is one of the best pieces of equipment to have with a van but mine has just decided to quit. I think it's the seals around the piston but a new O-ring for the oil vent may also be necessary.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers,
Creedo

this was in another post - Seatra International 233 Shepards Hill Rd Eden Hills SA 5050. Ph 08 8278 5107.

Ring them and pay by credit card.
Apparently, they will send a kit to you wherever you are.

Cheers Don

Creedo,

I asked the same question a week or so ago. As stated I received my service kit today from Seatra International including the DVD. The cost was $33.95 delivered . It included all the seals to service the T.A.M. I had a look at the DVD tonight and it doesn't seem too difficult( for the mechanically minded) however I will let you know the outcome. From other threads it was stated that it about 2 hours to complete.

John.

Thanks for this info guys.

John, I have stripped the unit and am reasonably convinced it is the two seals on the piston but will probably want to also replace the vent O-ring. What was included in your kit? And yes I'd be interested to know how easy/hard it is to replace the seals - looks like they should be fairly easy but Murphy's Law has a habit of getting involved in these things.

Thanks Lappo. Sounds like its got all the seals I need. However, after stripping down it also looks like the release valve is suspect. I have called Seatra & spoke to Norm, apparently he is the guy who designed the unit. Will be doing an inspection with him over the phone on Monday & if not repairable with kit will be sending back to him for repair under warranty.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Post Re: Trail-A-Mate
For info to all Trail-a-Mate owners...

After stripping the Trail-a-Mate with the designer (Norm) on the other end of the phone, we found that the check valve was probably being impeded by small (tiny) grit in the oil. Norm advised that I should take the valve out and clean it by spraying with WD40/RP7/Silicon Grease etc via aerosol can under pressure. After many sprays the ball bearings in the valve freed up nicely and we put it back together...Voila! All good.

Mine was less than 12 months old so Norm was happy to give his time under warranty - but he seems fairly amicable and may also help out even if outside warranty.

Hope this helps anyone with similar problems.

Cheers,
Creedo
