Post Gas safety policy
Federal Minister,Martin Ferguson,is calling Australia-wide gas experts together to build up a safety strategy for gas usage in homes AND including recreational vehicles. One certainly hopes this project is better handled than the insulation batts, the school hall building fund, set-top boxes etc.etc. I browsed EnergySafe Victoria's website to see if it had submitted any information. Key in www.esv.vic.gov.au/Gas-Professionals/Te ... gasfitters. Lo & behold Gas Information sheet No.29 dated 2-6-2011, says words to the effect that:- "some caravan
manufacturers(by AS5601 definition this includes Motorhomes)are failing to comply with the distance separation required between the LPG cylinder compartment drain and sources of ignition".
A recall situation on those non-complying manufacturers? No name and shame information on the website. Contacted ACCC and asked what's going on? Safety for consumers and the protection of property and the environment from explosions or the potential risk from same is of paramount importance. And EnergySafe Victoria should name the manufacturers involved.
