 How do you pickle blue swimmer crab meat? A couple of years ago we saw some folk, at Port Germein S.A. cleaning and pickling blue swimmer crab meat into small jars. Early in the New Year, We'll be into 'em down that way but cant find any clues or methods on how this was done. Does anyone know the method and ingredients? Jock

Thanks for the response guys....Unfortunately, it's still up in the air....Looks like I may have drawn a blank here....Will buy a heap of small plastic food containers from the 'el-cheapo' shop and see if I can learn how to do it when we get there. Sid Yeah Sid. Thanks..But if you read it you'll see that the guy didn't really know and was just experimenting himself....I can do the same but would be better if there was a definite method. Thanks again, Jock

Re: How do you pickle blue swimmer crab meat? hi Jock, I wouldn't worry to much about how to cook blueys, just get a couple of pickled onion jars and when you get to Port Germane go to the pub if there are 20 people there just ask and you will have 20 answers. everyone along Spencer Gulf knows how to catch and pickle crabs.
I cook and clean the crabs pick the meat, put it in the jars add sea water, vinegar pepper and salt and Bobs your uncle. If you ask 20 people though you will probably wind up wit 20 different ways just pick the one you like.
