Post Mini electric oven
We were in Alice Springs Kmart today. Spotted and bought this oven.

Capacity 14 litres
Weight 4.5 kg
Max temp 250 degrees C
Timer
Top and Bottom elements
Power 1300 watts
Kmart Homemaker brand, model MG14BC

And the big one, cost............ $39

Haven't used it yet but looks enough room to cook a chook.

I have thought about getting a oven like this. Maybe not this brand or from this store. But there is a lot of different brands and offers on the market.
My wife is not interested, so we haven't got one.

Hans we have a turbo oven. They are good but a bit big and heavy. Overkill to heat a pie or bake a cake.

The one we got today was to give us a simple small light regular convection oven.

OT,
You do realise that this type of small over has been around since mid 80's, don't you?
Ours is slightly larger and has been used in the home since 1987 and is still going strong.
However we have two turbo ovens as well; one for the house and the other in the van. The latter was one of the first to come onto the market and has a stainless steel bowl therefore it is much lighter than the glass ones.
How is your trip going: no problems we hope.

Glannie, yep, seen a few over the years at 3 times the weight but never one for only 39 shekels. It weighs less than just the glass bowl of the turbo.

The trip is going perfectly, thanks :D

We bought a convection microwave oven for the van. It bakes, grills and microwaves and weighs less than 10 kilos. It is brilliant, roasts are perfect, my only complaint is the grill takes a minute to get to temp, but once at temp works a treat. We removed our gas stove/oven as we use the barbie to cook outside.

When we first hit the road we had a double element oven as mentioned in your post and we loved that too but it was only a loner.

Dave.

Yep, but that's $4 cheaper. I ask Kmart about that
