vacuum sealer
Hi. We purchased a handheld food vacuum sealer (made in China) at the last Adelaide caravan and camping show.We had trouble sourcing replacement bags the seller of the vacuum sealer did not return our phone calls for us to purchase extra bags (he is back at the show in August maybe).we did find another source via the web but the cost of the bags were too expensive after many hours on the computer we have found compatable bags 20 min from home. 30 bags 12 med and 18 small cost $40.00 ( $1.33ea).the bags are the zip lock with a one way valve, if anybody is looking for this type of bag they can be purchased and posted all over Australia via Adelaide service centre ph (08)83575833 or email [email protected]

Re: vacuum sealer
Hi Rat3het our hand held sealer only uses bags with zip lock and has to have a non return valve... We live in Adelaide and we dont have an Aldi store so we miss out on all the Aldi products. Regards Di

Re: vacuum sealer
G'day neighbours, Are you happy with the sealer and is it something like this http://www.klika.com.au/living/eco-vacu ... pAodxmR-hQwe saw one at the Bendigo show when we were there (the salesman did say he would be at the Adelaide show) we were impressed with it and it came with a selection of bags (6 or 10 of each S/M andL, something like that) we intend getting one at the show but it would be nice to know what you think of it. Also how much did you pay for it? We can't rememeber how much it was in Bendigo, was it comparable to the one in the link?

Re: vacuum sealer
I bought a hand-held Eco Vacuum Sealer [with 3 bags] from Big W. They also sell bags for same, seperately in a 9 pack.
Cheers, xina.

Re: vacuum sealer
Hi Di and Wayne We discussed purchasing a vacuum sealer and due to the ongoing costs, found it cheaper to get the butchers etc to vacuum seal the meat for us, about 20c/bag. We found that even outback butchers provide this service. One less item you have to pack and less weight!

Re: vacuum sealer
Hi VWillis, Re vacuum sealer, it might be ok to get the country butcher to vac your meat for you, which I know they will gladly, but there are so many other things you can do with your vac machine, I do cold sliced meat left from a roast, to have on sandwiches, Avo's dont go brown when you dont use all of them, I even boil half a dozen eggs at a time, shell them and then vac them. Once again ready to use when you want them, in salads or sandwiches etc. Fruit also keeps a lot longer when vacummed. Once you purchase your machine you will find all sorts of uses for it and you will get your money back very quickly.I would never be without mine now.

Re: vacuum sealer
I found another use for my sealer.
The grandson is starting to get around so I decided the build a gate to keep him out of the kitchen.
I painted it with blackboard paint for some fun for him but I had no turps to clean the roller with between coats so I sealed it in a bag.
I made the seal near the top so I could re-seal it over and over between coats.
I used that roller 6 times before I cleaned it and put it away.
