Re: getting hi jacked by ads
This damned thing has been driving me mad also. I too have been thinking of leaving this forum. I'll look into adblock - thanks, Dan

PM sent Brian (2weis). Let us know if it works. These occurrences are not to do with the website, but something on you computer. C&M does have one advertising banner across the top. I don't use ad blockers.

Re: getting hi jacked by ads
After a fair bit of research using 3 home pooters, one of which has not been switched on for several months, thus not infected and after doing an immediate anti-virus update I now suspect my earlier posted comment to be wrong. My present theory is the issue does reside with the website. Anti-virus 'Avast' gives me consistent 'malicious website' warnings not only about our forum but various associated Express Media websites. I suspect in the absence of staff during the festive season that someone has hacked their websites. Of course it is possible that this is a deliberate management act in commercial interests but the timing suggests otherwise to me. Perhaps time will tell

Re: getting hi jacked by ads
ot i am reasonably sure the problem lies within this site while it may be only a minor irritant at this stage ,it annoyed me i think i may give the site a rest for a while and see if management resolves it and i can have a bex and a lie down brian

Hi all, I bought adblock after reading about it last night. Didn't get hit with ad tonight. $20 well spent I think. Cheers, Dan

Re: getting hi jacked by ads
I must say I have had no problem with pop ups or unwanted apps showing up at all. Just the banner at the top. Some times these Trojans get attached to other pages and sneak in as parasites. I was worried the other day looking at a Bicycle page and then I couldn't shut it down, even with the good old con, Alt, delete, system. I just could not access the program control manager.
All the top of the page was greyed out and a stupid sign came up saying "Are you sure you want to leave this page" You click yes and it goes to another add. I shut the computer down and restarted it up to get going again. I was worried I might have a bug but ok again now.

Re: getting hi jacked by ads
Hi All, I too had the same annoying issue and i am running IE9. All i have done is turn on pop-up blocker (in IE9) and made sure that this forum site is not one of the allowed sites. I have not had one since. Might have to investigate Adblocker... Thanks for the advise. Paul
