Post IBIS Aircon unit
Hi everyone,

a question if I may. We have an Ibis aircon unit in our new van. this unit has a digital display that tells you the room temp and changes to display the set point when you adjust the temp up or down.

My question relates to the display when the compressor is running(say in heating) the display will show a very high temp up around 35 or 36 degrees C then when the comp stops the display will gradually drop down until the comp restarts and away we go again.

Is this normal? or is the return air sensor in the wrong place or is there an air leak between supply air ducting and return air intake?

thank you for your time I hope someone knows a bit about these things.

frank

That is not a normal situation

When running the display shows the actual temperature of the air intake inside
press the up or down temp button once to see the set temperature.
your set temperature may be set very high.

the display should be lower than the heating setting when heating or the compressor cuts out
when cooling the indicated temperature should be higher than the set temperature for the compressor to work.

reread the instructions to make sure you know the functions and adjustments .
If you can give a more precise account I should be able to tell you if something is wrong.

watch out for blinking display starting with an E

I just had my Ibis replaced under warranty, because of a E4 error.
Out of gas for the second time.

Caution with airconditioners in caravan parks
The Voltage drop in a lot of caravan parks is very high.
If the voltage drops below 220V there is a great risk of the compressor stalling and then burning out.
That applies to all brands of airconditioners until they all have a safety cut out for low voltage.
the voltage has to be measured under full load.

G'day Rupert,

I too was thinking it is not normal, here is what it does:

Mode= heating
Fan= Auto
Set point= 25 deg C
Display at start up= 18 deg C (room/return air temp)
Comp cuts in
Temp display climbs to 20, 22, 26, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35,36 comp cuts out
Temp display begins to drop, 34, 32, 31, 30, 29, 28, 26, 24, 22
then comp cuts in again and repeats above .

If mode= cool, the display activity is similar but obviously in the other direction.

Overall the aircon does not perform very well at heating or cooling the inside of the van and from my own experience I think the sensor is reading discharge air from the evaporator or a percentage of it that is influencing the temp regulation.

I am very interested to hear any opinions based on experience.
There have been no Error codes displayed as yet.
I have read and re read all the books that came with the van and I am doing it right.

Post Re: IBIS Aircon unit-Update
G'day Everyone,
I fired off an email via the Aircommand website "service support" form and got a reply the very same day.

Basically they agree with my conclusion and have sent a warranty work order to a service agent near my home.

As soon as I can get the van to Tamworth they will fix it.

I will report back on my experiences but so far Aircommand are doing very well.

G'day Rainy,

Thanks for the good wishes.
When I spoke to Aircommand they were very helpful and advised me they were sending a warranty work order to their agent in Tamworth as I was speaking with them. I was advised they would be in touch with me but no contact yet. I do know who the agent is and I will be calling them tomorrow to find out what the story is.
It is the wrong time of year to ask does yours do what mine does when heating? It does a similar thing when cooling but not as rapidly.

Can you advise me just what is on the CD?
I suspect it would be a video of how to use the appliance but then I am only guessing.

See how I get on tomorrow and I will take it from there.
