Post New van waiting list
All right I will be the second one with a question.

Why is there such a long time from ordering a new van to getting it?

Why is the waiting list so long from manufactures no matter who they are?

Also the fact that production runs are relatively slow, when you compare to cars etc.

As an example I read that the Paramount crew are producing only 12 -13 per week, they were only half that last year.

mate I would suspect it has something to do with -LOTS of orders for new and custom vans and limited production capacity.
In order to make more vans per week a manufacturer would need the following
more floor space
more equipment and tools
more stock of materials
more tradespersons
more office staff
more computers
more credit
AND MORE MONEY to tie up in all the above.

they are probably being a little cautious in case the bottom falls out of the market again like it did in the 1980's/90's.

just my 2 cents worth.

In addition to the above, I also think that outstanding orders gives the manufacturer a "buffer" for busy & slow sales periods. If they had very few outstanding orders, I imagine they & their workforce would be rather nervous from time to time waiting for the orders to come in.

They also have to order from other manufacturers eg chassis, appliances, vinyls, upholstery etc so this would account for some delay and applies particularly to custom builders.:)

In the case of jayco, they only do production runs of certain vans at a time eg. one run of sterlings then a run of campers etc depending on demand......three months to wait for our discovery but thats not too bad

Jurgens do it in the same fashion.
