I just did nearly 9000kms with the yellow ribbons front and back. Didn't see a single one in a C/P or on the road. Only bumped into Brett and Julie "this is where we are " in Cairns after reading their post on this site. As far as the wave goes, the kids started playing 'sweet and sour'. If we got a return wave 'sweet!!!!!' no wave 'sour!!!!!'. The further North we got the sweeter everyone became. Must have been the warmer weather. Tassie caravanners hang your heads! We passed plenty of vans, (most with tassie plates) when we were on the way home from Devonport. Waved to everyone and had NO waves back. They were possibly **ssed off at our glowing suntans.

Yeah rredbeak. Debbie and Muzza now travelled from North West Western Australia to Southern beaches just out of Adelaide. Had Yellow ribbon flying all the way. With the addition of Australian flag above ribbon when at rest. Muzza

Funny part is we've NEVER been asked what the ribbons are about ROFL... BUT after reading this thread there ARE ppl out there with them on,in time the numbers will grow and a CHANCE meeting will eventually take place. Weve had one meeting ,by arrangement ,with Bev Snownsun to confirm ribbons.weve met Bev n her wonderfull Family lots since then all the way around oz. I wonder WHO will be the first forumite to make a chance meeting ... Would be magic to read about it here in the forum. Cheers Rod

Manhattan,
It was started by Mist one of our Forum members.
The idea is Forum members fly a yellow ribbon or similar and have the Forum decal displayed on their van/car This being a yellow map of Oz. Hopefully to identify other members when travelling.
PM Lance if you are interested in the decals.
Take it easy. SD

Yellow ribbons
Hi All Sue and I are back from a 2 week trip, taking in Moree, Lightning Ridge, Longreach, Emerald, Carnavon Gorge and Warwick, great trip but saw no other van with a yellow ribbon. About 95% of other vaners we saw on the road gave us a wave, we waved to all we passed. We have 'Rick N Sue UHF 18' on the rear right of the van and even though we had the uhf on for the whole trip we didn't hear from anyone, a little disappointing but had a great trip. Hopefully we will get a better resonce when we head of next March.
