Post Poll... Yellow Ribbons & Other Id
Firstly, let me say that these suggestions are in addition to, rather than in place of, Mists' brilliant original concept of yellow ribbons on the back of the RV's.

This was expanded to include yellow Velcro or Duct tape for the following reasons:

a. no ribbons could be found, or
b. no rear handles to tie the ribbons on to, or
c. longevity.

The concept was taken a little further with the idea of including ID to the front of Vans/MH's &, in the case of Vans - their tow tugs. As a consequence, the Yellow Decal of varying shapes came to fruition & Lance was kind enough to show a photo of one such idea along with suggested costs.

Thanks to those that submitted the ideas & those that gave their opinions.

Whilst it would be nice to leave this poll open for a considerable time to enable each & every viewer the opportunity to participate, should they choose to do so, I feel that the members are looking for a decision to be made. Consequently I have set the time frame to 4 weeks with the option to close it earlier - after 2 weeks - if there are no additional votes over a 3 day period.

And now... It's time to vote.

GG,
I haven't contributed over much to this thread as we thought we were selling the van. Another reason for our backing out of the forum.
Much soul searching over the last few weeks we have decided not to sell the Roady and stay in the caravaning scene for the foreseeable future.
I am for the yellow triangle, rear mounted and front mounted where possible.
I would like to make mine out of sheet metal, light gauge, and attach with screws on the rear and possibly plastic ties on the roo bar.
Does that sound acceptable to what is currently envisaged by the forum members.
Take it easy.

Post ERm... Hang on....
Are we ok to have sharp edges attached to the roo bar = triangles made of light gauge sheet metal... I can visualise three sharp points and thought it was illegal to have sharp projections on the front of a vehicle...
I like the idea though - bit like when the army goes on maneouvres and they fix those coloured ID plates on the vehicles... How about made from that shimmery / reflective stuff that road signs are made from... (mysterious disappearance of traffic signs on quiet roads...!!)
I'm not keen on voting cos I'm not very good at it - everytime I vote for anything, the other guys win... So I'll just go along with the flow...
BTW - recent trip from B'Hill to Toomawerah/Tamworth/Baraba/Bingara/Copeton Dam/Armidale and return, we flew our yellow ribbons fore and aft and didn't get a flash - except for a truckie asking if we'd left the wife's bloomers tied to the back handle by mistake..!!! LOL...

Jedo,
Obviously no sharp edges and in all probability framed. Located inside the roo bar perimeter.

SD,

If it helps to introduce you to other forumites then it really doesn/t matter what material it is made from.

I, for one, would love to see the end result.... go for it.

GG,
The young blokes a sheety/boilermaker, I will get him to knock me up a set.
The van is in his hands now getting some work done so another wee job shouldn't cause any dramas.
They will look better than anything I would make.
I will make some out of board and see how big they need to be so as to be spotted at a nominal 160kph closing.
Take it easy.

He has just made me a couple of light weight aluminium bush buckets out of checker plate. Very swish

Post Two yellow Circles...
LOL... Got meself all excited on the way home from work tonight...
The way home from work happens to be the main route through B'Hill - along Williams Street past the Memorial Oval Footy and Trots Showground... when I suddenly spies a square Nissan pulling a van - and the Nissan had TWO bright yellow circles front of the radiator... Flash Flash Wave... and the couple inside just looking at me as I glide past realising that they are yellow spotty covers... Feel like a right narna... Nah - I am a right narna...

Post Birds...
Aye... Right...
Seems Baby Birds have some inbuilt Genetic Code to Yellow Diamond Shapes.
The Mother Bird opens its mouth (gapes) - and this is a signal to the Baby Bird for "food": the Mother Bird regurgitates the food... the baby bird takes it. Pavlovian stuff...
Seems Pavlov was right...
Flash a stimulus and get a reaction...!!!
LOL...
