Post Yellow Ribbons & other ID
As new to the forum and going to head travelling in Jan 2010, I went back and read all the yellow ribbon threads but I didn't get a clear picture of what was supposed to go where on the front of the caravan or the tow vehicle.
Could someone enlighten me? (I did like the idea of the yellow triangle on the top drivers side corner at the top of the van - Lance could probably organise these at a small price)

Still a matter of discussion at this stage Sue.

As far as the tow vehicle is concerned, the following suggestions have been made:

Front bumper bar on the RH side.
Yellow triangle/square/circle or something on the upper RH windscreen.
Yellow triangle in the centre of the windscreen directly behind the rear vision mirror.

If you have a bull-bar or nudge-bar:
On the RH upright.
In the centre of the horizontal bar.

On the CV/MH:

On the RH front section above the window/windscreen - possibly triangle.

On the RH rear grab handle of CV's, or if you have a MH with rear ladder then on the RH vertical of the ladder, or any other appendage on the rear of the MH's.

Think that about covers it so far &, yes, I agree... Lance could very well make/supply these once a decision is made.

Perhaps Lance might jump in here & give us some food for thought.

Hi Chuck,
Why don't you decide what you think would be best and then tell the rest of us. Lots of good ideas talked about but someone needs to make a decision, you seem like a good one to do that.
Cheers, Mist

OK Mist, here's my suggestions.

For the front of tow tugs.

Yellow 3 - 4" (7 - 10cm) triangle that sticks on the inside of the windscreen directly behind the rear vision mirror. If you have a bull-bar or nudge bar on your vehicle you could also wrap some Velcro/Duct tape around the centre horizontal section in the middle of the bar.

For the front of CV's/MH's.

Yellow 6 - 8" (15 - 20cm) yellow triangle on the drivers side about halfway up between the front window/windscreen & the top of the CV/MH.

The rear has already been discussed & generally agreed to have yellow Velcro/Duct tape on the right hand grab handles of the CV's..... & for MH's with ladders on the rear, have Velcro/Duct tape on the right hand upright of the ladder. Those MH's without a rear ladder or any other appendage to put the Velcro/Duct tape around could possibly put a similar sized triangle on the RH rear as suggested for the front.

And perhaps Lance could produce the triangles in an appropriate weatherproof material for the outer & also a suitable one for the inside of the windscrens... along with suggested prices.

Over to you lot...

Chuck

One problem with this is that the etag companies are recommending that you place your etag in that position. In fact, that is where mine is currently. Would suggest upper right hand corner from drivers position. Not in way of vision and closer to oncoming traffic.

Post well thats it!!!
can I ride on top of the bus!

crap I don't have a bus

hehehe

The issue with the marking varies from unit to unit
If you do not have bullbars the window is fine, but do not obscure your vision.
If you have a bullbar the right hand side seems to be most useful

The size of the tape should be wide enough that you can see it from at least 100m, or you miss the point.

at the back of the van usually there is a handle or something on the right hand side.

If you want yellow ducktape to do it find em and I give it to you

cheers

Placing it in the upper right hand corner would only work if it was stuck on the inside... if on the outside, the wipers may contact it & either wear it, or the wiper, away - eventually.

As for the etag - mine was placed to one side of the mirror stem - the sticker could go on the other side... still behind the mirror.

Either is fine with me.

My wipers do not go that far so there is no problem. Having said that, what suits me may not suit others. Put it where it can be easily seen.
