Protect Your Intercooler
Hi there, The grate over the intercooler on the 2004 Toyota Prado is so coarse that it will only stop the largest of objects from damaging the vanes on the intercooler. We picked up two large locusts in ours & it took me hours to straighten the vanes with a pointed knife & small screwdriver. The solution, "Mouse Wire" about 6 mm square mesh. Take a piece 320 mm X 240 mm & push it down into the existing intercooler grate. Then use some light "Tie Wire" to secure it to the existing grate. Don't use cable ties, as they can't take the heat & become brittle & break. After 12,000 kms of country driving, no damage to the intercooler & I just vacuum any bugs off to avoid pushing them thru the mouse wire. Tar Trekka. Any day above the ground is a great day.
