Again its a personal choice thing, we had one with our other van ,at the moment we only have a shade wall with this one but we will more than likely get the walls made for this one .I could think of a few holidays that were happier and dryer with the extra room of the annexe for thirty minutes of our time to put it up was well worth it cheers john

Thank you all again for the support with this issue, still not resolved but as you say we can work it our on the road.
I am lending now towards a full annex with a separate shade wall for short stays.
We hope to be on the road for some time.
When we get the forum stickers we will look for you all on the road.

Well done Macbeth.

Greetings from the Gold Coast. We recently purchased a 19' Lotus Uptown. Annexe or no annexe? We eventually settled on an annexe with ginormous windows -both fly screen & clear plastic. The clear plastic is for cool & wet days when we want to be outside but dont want the cold winds. The other good thing is that when we had our previous van & parked at First Sun at Byron we could leave the front & side walls up & get fab views of the beach. This allowed us some privacy without destroying the serenity. By the way our currnet annexe allows the clear plastic to roll up for cooling breezes.

We had this very conversation with our travelling companions just yesterday. They have a full annex and reckon they wouldn't travel without it. We, on the other hand, chose not to get one - just have the shades because we think people will be less inclined to stop and chat.

Our discussion went on for some time and it ended with both of us saying we're happy with our individual choice.

So, as other forum members have said - take off without an annex and get one during your travels if you feel the need.

Happy travels and half your luck!

Cheers
Vicki

We use a full annexe and dont always put the walls up if we want just a roof for shade.
I saw sometime ago someone was using a bed mozzie net as a dining area and decided to try it. Just tied the center hook to one of the center roof supports and tied the net so that the fall covered the table and chairs.
Worked very well and as it has no weight and size it's always with our van

We just ordered a 1 side that zips to a 3/4 front.for shade..canvas...no windows it will attatch to awning roll slot and the horisontal spreader bar.....it will leave the trianglar bit above open...but its for shade not protection.......the area is pretty small....7ft X 8ft wide.not a big annex area
