Post "New" Jayco Sterling....hooray!!
Hi Everyone,

Bubbling with excitement, I just had to share the news with you all!

Have just signed the contract on a 2007 Jayco Sterling full van, model 20.64-2, with 2 door 184 litre fridge, ensuite and washing machine. Ahhhhh!

It's the underslung model, with the outback frame, bullbar, mudflaps, etc.

Cannot wait to get it, use it a lot (hopefully) and just enjoy the travels and good times in it.

We have never had an ensuite before, so I feel so spoilt!

It's got an Anderson plug and a 12 pin round connector. Is the Anderson plug to run only the fridge? Why does it need a 12 pin, not the standard 7 pin?

Anyway, thanks to those who helped me with their feedback on that particular model.

I'm sure I'll be hitting the Tech section hard soon, with a lot of questions!!

We should have a photos link to show the rigs to others in colour!

Cheers,
Sally :) :)

Good onya Sal,
We have the 06 model and we love it, plenty of room and the bathroom makes all the difference we have solar on the roof and a brakeaway system, we were told we needed the 12 pin for that. hope you have heaps of fun in your van.

Congratulations!

I suspect the 12 Pin plug would be to run the fridge and the Anderson Plug would charge the battery. The bottom five pins on the 12 Pin plug can take a bigger wire than standard, so it is possible they have used 6 B&S; wire (7mm) to run the fridge.

Cheers

we purchased a new jayco last year with a 12 point plug fitted.even the jayco dealer could not tell us what wires were connected to what points.our territory is fitted with a 12 point plug but i havn't checked what wires were connected. everything works so i'm not touching anything to see whats what.I beleive if it ain't broke don't touch it.

Hi Les and Del 2639,

Thanks for the encouraging words! Having the bathroom really excites me! No more long, dark walks for a shower! Hope to get out on a trip down the coast very soon. The van does have the breakaway system, so that would be it. Thanks for that!

4x4, thank you for your feedback too. I think you're spot on. The van has a 2-door 184 litre fridge, so would possibly need heavier wiring. The Anderson plug charging the battery makes sense now too. Much appreciated info!

Rocan, I'm with you! If it is working, leave it alone! I'm taking the Pajero down to the Jayco auto electrician on Wed to change our 7 pin to the 12 pin and put an external Anderson plug there too. I'll get an explanation from him hopefully, on the exact set up and how it works and report back.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words!
Cheers,
Sally:)
