After 13 days and 6000kms our shakedown trip is over! We were very excited to head off from Mount Isa, spend a couple of days catching up with family in SW NSW before arriving in Penrith to take delivery of our Northstar Mudgee.
It took all day for the van to be in our hands and we took off to Katoomba for a couple of nights testing everything that opened and shut.
We left Katoomba and managed to fit a quick lap of the Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst before leaving for the Grabine Music Muster. The road in and out of Grabine included 200kms of winding, narrow gravel road that really tested both the van and car.
Everything got the A-OK when we arrived so we settled in for a couple of days of good music, we also met some lovely people to top it off. These days were free camping and the solar panels really came into their own, very impressed!
We arrived in Gilgandra and met my brother and sister-in-law who were travelling north with their van so we stayed together for 3 days where we left them in Emerald after travelling through Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Surat, St George and Dirranbandi before heading west for Mount Isa.
The Jeep went really well, the only problem being a malfunction light which came on indicating we had picked up some dirty fuel along the way. We managed between 20-23 ltrs/100 depending on wind and topography but we did hit 27ltrs/100 in the Blue Mountains but the wind was horrific.
The van managed well with only minor teething problems (one power outlet doesn't work).
We are home and gearing up for work Monday, looking at the van out the window and already wishing for the next trip!! It was a fantastic
