building my own light offroader
here is the start of the chassis of my single axle light offroader [mainly beach] its 4.8 mt long and will have a queen bed in front and bunks at the back for the kids .kitchen will be outside .im using a new material to clad the outside 3mm composite ally pannels .i will try to keep the pics coming as i progress with the build

NIce work. What is the cladding and do you have a link to a site for it. You may have seen I am building a trailer too and am interested in your cladding

the aluminumn compsite pannels [ACP] im using are from Field international there called sign alloy ,just google search sign alloy .there mainly used for signs but are also being used truck bodys and domestic uses .when i picked up my pannels they told me a 5th weeler manufacturer is looking into using them

It seems a big effort to make your own caravan but at least you get exactly what you want in the set up.
Is it difficult to get your own van registered in Victoria. I am planning to help a mate build a teardrop trailer to pull behind a 53 Ford ute.

yes paul it is a big effort , it dosnt fit in the shed ,i have been building trailers of all sizes for about 10 yrs now and i thought i should try something new ,i like a challange

God I hope its not to hard to register, so people of spoken to havent said it will be. I contacted that mob about the sheets Pedro, but they will only sell project sized amounts, and two sheets doesnt cut it

for the joins i will be using an ally cover strip with hidden rivits similar to the corner strip found on most vans .I have also seen a T section used ,the same as what you would find in an old house with fibro walls
