Hi everyone,

Have enjoyed reading this site and am very impressed with the friendly style of posting and the subjects covered.

Was interested to read the "how to manage retirement" thread.

I have tried to retire 3 times now, age 45, 55 and 60.

At 45 we managed to sail our yacht for 2 years before I became totally bored and under pressure from SWMBO we continued on for a total of 5 years.

At 55 managed to last 6 months before once again becoming bored.

At 60 we purchased our first caravan and 4wd for the big trip. After 6 months hated the van but loved the 4wd. Came home and traded the van in plus swapped tow vehicles, but didn't have the enthusiasm to go caravaning again on a permanent basis.

Have come to the conclusion that retirement is hard work and one must ease oneself into it gradually.

We now manage to run our business 2-3 days a week for a total of 26 weeks a year. Now that's what I call retirement at the moment.

We have a Geist caravan and tow with a Falcon XR6T. Both units are very well suited to each other and we have no complaints.

We like to free camp and in fact are off tomorrow to the "Bay of Fires" here in Tasmania.

Look forward to interacting with other members on this forum whenever I can be of assistance.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Cheers

Ken

Welcome to the forum Ken,
there are certainly many lovely spot to camp at in The Bay of Fires, we were in your lovely state in Jan, Feb and March last year, we stayed at Moulting Bay camping area for a few days and thought it was great, there were showers available in town (St Helens) on the warf.
If only all states could have Tassie's view point towards free camping it would be great.
