There’s no denying a day out on a boat is more fun than a box full of clowns, but the commitment of a boat and trailer and dragging them around is too much for many. The brand-new Yamaha portable four-stroke series of engines are specifically designed to make portable boating an option for anyone.

The F4, 5 and 6 are all light and easy to use, weighing only 27kg, and feature a large carry handle at the back and ergonomic grasp at the front to make fitting hassle-free. The unique Yamaha oil leak prevention system allows the motor to be stored on its side or front without mess.

During manual starting, the Yamaha easy-start decompression system releases a small amount of pressure in the cylinder. This makes hot and cold starting easy for boat-goers of any age. Full-forward, reverse and neutral are selected on all models using the gearshift tiller, which is positioned for manoeuvrability and allows for 90° steering in each direction.

All models are available with long or short driveshaft configurations, taking a range of factory-developed propellers for versatility. These motors come with an inbuilt 1.1L fuel tank, and can also be fitted with an external tank for long trips.

Four-stroke engines are becoming increasingly popular for tinnies and cartoppers due to their reliability, quieter operation, fuel efficiency and lower emissions. This new range of outboards by Yamahamarine takes the advantages of two-strokes and wraps them up in a better package.
