Post Admin guys; this could be a good idea
I think that would be a very good idea, the title should (imo) also reflect the problem being discribed (make & model)

How silly can a big company be?

On the flipside, at least they issue product recalls and acknowledge manufacturing that can potentially be a problem.

Car manufacturers issue recalls occasionally too - just seems that the only caravan manufacturer to do so is Jayco.

Seems a little strange to me that most other van manufacturers have never issued a recall for anything at all - even though a lot of hardware and components are supplied by 3rd parties.

Never a poor weld? Axle underrated for the weight?

Jayco had one recall in 2009 when they advised the roll-out awning had a problem and may unfurl while travelling. Do no other manufacturers use the same awning? No other manufacturers issued a recall at the same time.

I'm quite OK with a company that acknowledges potential problems and rectifies them.

Cheers.

Mike

Mike.
Ditto.
Underrated tyres have long been an issue with some manufacturers, but no recalls.

Post Great Wall Motors V240 Recall
I know nothing about the Great Wall Motors V240 but upon looking them up I see they could be used as a tug, hence this post...

Post Recalls
Vehicle manufacturers use RTA data-bases to track and contact current owners for Safety Related Recalls using Chassis/VIN numbers as the search criteria. They use their own and Dealer records for Service Campaigns and updates. Assume same protocols apply to Caravan manufacturers.

Rooty, yes that is quite true. How thoroughly it works I don't know. With my new Toyota they had my rego wrongly recorded. I wonder how well the systems track used vehicles from owner to owner. I guess if the systems were faultless the makers would not need to place recall public notices in the main newspapers. As for the van industry I have far less faith in their diligence. Maybe the big operators are OK but there are so many smaller ones.

My second reason for listing recalls here is vehicle non-owners may be interested in the track-record of other brands.
