Oz Pig BBQ
We have been considering getting an Oz Pig BBQ, but have a few questions. Firstly, are they as good as the advertising. Can they be used during fire ban days with heat beads when free camping. What accesories would be handy to have. Any comments regarding the pros and cons would be greatly appreciated. As it would appear that these are not available in shops I am finding it difficult to obtain any information about them. Regards Beejay

Not trying to knock a product but I cannot see why travellers would want to carry a dirty smokey think like that when travelling. Don't we all carry too much already?????? I like to keep things simple. The amount of STUFF I felt compelled to buy for my travels now sit in the back of my shed.

Re: Oz Pig BBQ
I feel they are too bulky and heavy to carry, although people with them love them. I have a flat plate, grill on one half and flat plate the other half, this works well with camp oven able to sit on top as well. I would be hesitant on using heat beads on fire ban days, I think they would still be against the law. Just my thoughts.
Geoff.

Yes agree!! I used a 15 L old paint can type of unit. cut a door and drilled some holes to run extra large steel tent pegs for base to hold pots above the flames plus a wire grill on top, to use as a cook top. Then found a small collapsible wire unit as table.Total weight no more than 4 or 5 kg's if that. Cost virtually zero. Heaps of people like the set up. Jay&Dee

Re: Oz Pig BBQ
Thanks everyone for your opinions, the idea was to use the Oz Pig when free camping instead of an open fire ( which you can't beat during winter), as it would require less wood / heat beads. We always cook outside especially when free camping using either a bbq or camp oven. Well done Diesel, have not quite got to that stage yet thank goodness. Regards Beejay

Re: Oz Pig BBQ
Hi beejay We have one haven't tried with head beads but it's great with cooking and heating.
We use the wok, grill, fry pan and of course the side warmers.
