G'day out there,

After reading BruDan's story regarding the stuff up's & disappointments from Elite Caravans.
I would like to start a post, where we can all report on the STANDARD OF MANUFACTURER of your new 'van. That way we can sort out the rubbish from the good ones.

Let's use a rating of 1 to 10, 1 being excellent & 10 being very poor.

Millard rating: 4 (2007 model)

geez Coxy !!!
I reckon you'll stir up a hornets nest. The idea's good in principle but things will get agro when people jump in to defend their 'pride & joy' when it gets a low rating by someone else. It's happened many times before.

OK, Ill bite.

Our 2007 Coronet Grand Prince.

Travelled equal to around the block at least twice and nothing has broken or fallen off.
Everything still works as it should and it still looks OK to me.
Did have 1 small problem when I first got it, couldn't get the front wheels off but that was fixed pronto.
So Iv'e got to give it a 9.5 /10

Whoops wrong way round try 1.5

Lost .5 for me having to take it back to the yard.

Jeff.

Not sure if this will help or not, but here goes........

Quality is quite a complex subject, people perceive and rate various aspects of quality very differently!

A few examples of aspects that people 'might or might not' consider in assessing quality.

Robustness, ............e.g.. Strength, solid construction, weight etc.
Reliability, ............... e.g.. Likely hood of random failure.
Durability, ................e.g.. Expected life.
Appearance, ...........e.g.. Styling, colours, shape etc.
Finish, ......................e.g.. Neat and tidy, straight and true etc.
Build defects............e.g.. Loose screw, missing trim, leaking seal etc.
Value, .......................e.g.. Size / features relative to outlay.
Prestige, ..................e.g.. Higher price often implies better quality.
Features, .................e.g.. Luxury items, features, accessories.

If ranking this 'example' list, I'm pretty sure my wife and I would come up with very different priorities, yet we both seem to be equally happy with our van!

Hi Folks,
It is a hard thing to judge alright, For example my 2003 Avan is not a bad unit, but the manufacturer did his apprenticeship in the house of slitherine, and appointed his cohort dealers from the dark side!!!
So there is no way I could recommend them at all. And this is not taking away anything from the van itself, which is ok.
But you are buying a package and if the dealer won’t back his product, you have to appraise the whole deal.
So for Victorian Avan buyers it is the lowest score for me.

Sorry but can you reverse the point scoring, 1= bad and 10 = good I can see 2 mistakes already
Frank
PS our van is 31 years old and still doing what it was built for with only small hickups so it gets a good rating

Well here's my two cents worth, so far if the time spent is anything to go on my van would have to be the best van ever built even Noah didnt work on his as much as i have on mine...... and i reckon this thing will float was well when its finished if you think a fish's ass is water tight this will beat it hands down.

Now if cut fingers, scraped knuckles, sleepless nights (due to thinking), bumps on forehead (from under axel) sore knees (there not what they use to be), sore back, head achs, walking in and out of the bloody thing, cutting it wrong and having to cut it again, buying to much of one thing and not enough of another, the countless trips to carac and bunnings, all the money oh and the "are you working on that bloody van again, why can't you help me with the kids, i am stuck in here all day with them" is also a sign of quaility then mine will be a rolls royce.......

And it's not even had it's first trip yet LOL.

Cheers Robert...

Our current van is the fourth new van in 6 years, and we are 101% happy with it in every way, plus the dealer will go out of his way if we have a problem no matter how minor it is.

  Cheers

Here's my tuppence worth. Totally agree with dieseltojo. Our Avan 2004 Erin is a lovely van. Built to a price bracket, with no frills and good for hard top travelling only. We have no plans to trade it at the moment, BUT the experiences we had with the dealership and the hassles with the power supply. ...not worth remembering all the hassles and additional expense of putting right the original repairs.
I give the van 8/10 and NSW dealer 0/10
Deborah
