Commercial types of barby exist, but this barbecue is able to have the grid put up and down on a bar and has a push pull lever to maintain any height.
It is stable enough to take a 20 litre bucket of water and can easily be pulled or pushed out of the fire for access. Of course you can easily change dimensions to suite your selves. Mine may be too large for some but we free camp with friends and need a bit of room at times.

I will try to make the contraption as easy to follow as possible. Whilst I have given all important dimensions, these things can be changed in all respects to suit every individual. I find that if you give the info to 10 different people you get 10 different finished projects. And fare enough too as we all have different skills and different materials lying around. The only thing I will say is don’t make it any bigger than what I will show. It is plenty big enough for a good group to cook on.
This is the ground anchor .You hammer this into the ground with the square piece of tube where you want to place the Main Pole. Leave it at ground level.

Next is the Main Pole. This gets hammered into the ground through the 30 mm square end of the previously placed ground anchor.

Next we place the adjustable height handle over the Main Pole and slide it to the chosen height.

Then we fit the grid mesh with the hooks into the two bits of pipe welded on each side of the handle.
This shows the hooks on the grid.

The finished assembly, showing the hooks into the handle. The original pics show the unit assembled.
If the Main Pole is hammered just up to the top of the ground anchor, the whole unit will rotate when simply pushed sideways on the edge of the grid. This gets the tucker out of the heat whenever you want.

This is how a shackle was designed to be done up,That is why it has the hole in the pin.It is not a good idea to tighten the pin as all it does is close the shackle like a spring and makes it hard to undo.
just do it up firm and twist the very thin wire.
People not using wire is the reason that shackles are not allowed at the trailer end.But Hammer locks are.
