TRUCKIES WAGE WAR - Respect our Rest Areas!

Over the last few years I’ve seen more and more ‘truck-only’ rest stops along major highways get filled up with vanners using them as overnight stops. Let me tell you, the truckies have had a gutful. These hardworking folk NEED to stop and rest, and it’s unfair for them to have to move on because vanners are in the way.

I’m not blaming the RVers here - I’m blaming the lack of decent Rest Areas available on highways across the country that will permit stops up to 18 hours. It’s important for us to be able to rest after a long drive, and it’s the lack of options that have forced many of you feel the need to pull up at the truck stops, which need to be kept clear.

I propose 18 hour rest stops be added across the country as part of a safe resting policy. That said - we’ve gotta do our bit and show etiquette to those others on the road.

We can do our bit by not stopping beside tables and chairs provided so others can use them (we have our homes attached to the vehicle). Also, plan your trip so you don’t have to stop at truck-only rest stops - give these poor workers a chance to do the right thing.
