Hi all;
Now that you’re surgery is over OT, you will wonder what all the fuss is about. Take the slow train for a few weeks and put your feet up. Remember to take it easy. Did the doctors tell you NO driving for 6 weeks. Happened to me and not being able to drive was the hardest thing.

Good luck and try not to laugh to hard for the first few weeks, you will soon find out why.

OT, Just a question of curiosity…….

Did your surgeon recommend or suggest Botox injections to the sides of the abdomen prior to surgery ?
A bloke at work is booked for a hernia repair on the 21st and he was given Botox injections a week ago to relax the side muscles and help prevent any tears after surgery.
Apparently it tends to ‘loosen’ up the area and put less strain on muscles while healing.
He is a big bloke and has had 2 repairs of the same job in the past so it may well be a precaution in his case.

V8, you are right about the fuss

The verbal instructions were no driving and no alcohol for 24 hours due anaesthetic.

The written instructions are….. No heavy lifting or excessive exercise until review. Note the use of ‘heavy’ and ‘excessive’ so I guess light lifting and light exercise are OK?

There is no mention of driving. Perhaps clutch or brake pedal pressure on the leg is of concern? As I tow with an auto and left-foot brake there would be no load on my right side hernia?
