Love the pics, it looks like you had a fantastic time. Now, I have a quick question, we have a Ford Ranger High Ride Ute, but it is not 4 x 4. Can you drive the Birdsville track with a 2WD, if conditions are right? It has plenty of ground clearance, and can handle rough ground pretty well, but I guess there are some places that can only be traversed by a 4wd!

We travelled the Track for the first time last August. Here is a relevant conditions reference… viewtopic.php?p=162296#p162296

I know conditions can vary but there was not a single point where a 4WD was needed. The issues were ground clearance, but only in the context of the van. As it transpired there was no clearance issue but I did worry about tearing my low hanging stone skirt.

So if your tug will clear a standing stubby then no probs whatsover for a 2WD. Speaking of…. there was a long period in my slightly younger life when my Falcon GTHO would not clear a stubby laying on its side.

As long as you have good tyres you will be fine.
Make sure you carry food and water as you will be parked up if it rains, as it becomes super slippery with even light rain.
