Soup maker

Post by TramcarTrev » Sun Feb 14, 2016 9:18 am

We recently bought a Tefal soupmaker and have been trying various things with it.
Very simple to use and clean and we will probaly find a spot in the van for it when we travel….
Basically chop up your vegies, meat etc into around 20mm cubes, throw it in, add seasoning, top up to the mark with water, put the lid on and 25mins later you have soup either chunky or smooth, your choice. When its cooked it goes into keep warm mode for up to 40 mins…
It supposedly will do fruit compote and other things as well.

Sounds great, especially when travelling in the winter months.

I guess it depends on how avante garde you want to be with soups, there are some chilled ones that sound nice – if you like cold soup…

Mally, I thought exactly that yesterday

Hopefully TT will explain how the Tefal is better :)

It appears to have some smarts for starters.

Yes it does the lot in one pot, We also have a thermo pot style cooker that we use to get a hot meal ready in the morning and it cooks all day while driving then is ready at night….

I think the Soupmaker is a bit like a breadmaker, we have an oven if we wanted to make bread but just throw the ingrediets in the bread maker and in a few hours you have a loaf of fresh bread, same with the soupmaker except it is ready in 30 mins and it can do other things like poach fruit and apparently makes jam, deserts, which I’ll have to try….

We cook about 10 liters of soup at the time. My wife will cook the meat or bones, leave it overnight in the fridge, skim the fat of the next day, then add the soup mix and vegetables, finish cooking the soup.
Then we store it in containers, about 2 serves in each and freeze them.
When we want soup, just take a container out. Nice and easy.
In a matter of fact, I’m going to have some now
