Yes noticed the same today when issue 255 arrived in mail.

Coincidentally this was the last issue of my subscription.

I have every issue from 1 to 255 but unless I get an offer I can’t refuse, I won’t be renewing my subscription.

Yes Neil I’m in the same situation.

I gave up on the subscription and only buy the mag on impulse now, I bought issue #255 and most of the content was ads, shame what used to be a good mag has gone down hill much like its sister mag 4X4 Action all ads and what content lacks decent substance, mainly rehash of the greatest comparisons since sliced bread

Hi Neil and all who are lamenting the demise of the size and content of this mag.

I have been a critic of spelling, mismatched photos to stories, Fred’s editorial opinions, the reduction in articles that appeal to the owners of vans and who are not looking for a new van and have written to the mag on many occasions but only received 1 reply which I really had to force from them. That part of the mag really sucks.
My latest beef is from issue 255, page 113, and relates to the advert for Aeroplus. I have researched all issues over the past 2 years and have not found 1 photo showing this device on Fred’s tug, whichever one it might be and yet the advert says “Fred SWEARS by the Aeroplus, it’s saved him thousands. Not only will it save you money, it makes for a much smoother towing experience”. Maybe I missed one? Come off the grass, please.

However, to be fair, I still get my value from the mag by taking advantage of the 10 issues for $39.00 and that is mainly from the articles written by people like us, who have their rig all set up the way they want it and taking the time to relate their experiences at places all over this wonderful country. That makes it all worthwhile for me.

I was arranging a stack of old Mags in chronological order when I noticed a big variation in thickness. Closer inspection revealed that edition #208 had 258 pages. A few following editions seemed similar in thickness.

Moving on through to recent editions they were all decidedly thinner. Edition # 251 was only 160 pages. So that is almost 100 less pages.

Now if this was a Bunning’s packet of small nails and you once received 258 and now received only 160, but still at the same price, would you be happy?

Today I saw the latest issue # 254 and it was 146 pages.

So from issue #208 @ 258 pages, to issue # 251 @ 160 pages and 3 issues later # 254 @ 146 pages

I haven’t checked for 6 months but today I saw a copy of #262. It is now 116 pages

If it gets much thinner the writing won’t fit on spine

So from issue #208 @ 258 pages, to issue # 251 @ 160 pages, to issue # 255 @ 130 pages and issue #262 @ 116 pages

And OT, I bought the last one, first one for about 18 months, every story was a rehash, take out the adverts and it was a very sad offering. For first time readers though, it may have been value for money??

The latest issue of the magazine consists of just over 100 pages with just over 50 of them being the same old ads – not very good.
Luckily I only paid $39 for 10 issues and I don’t have many to go.

I certainly will not be renewing my subscription and I don’t know how anyone could pay nearly $10 at the newsagent for such little info.

Once upon a time the magazine had hints and tips but now it is taken over by people writing travel diaries which I find very uninteresting generally.

I find I can read all the info in one night and don’t enjoy it like I used to.

Have all the “experts” left due to the sinking ship.
