Upper Dargo Victoria, can be cold but we went last week from 13th to 19th May 2011, and had a very nice stay. Dargo is about 330 k from Melbourne. You head north from about half way between Stratford and Bairnsdale.
Access can be had from either of those towns as well. We took a good way for caravans.
We went with two vans and both of us had heaters. A few campers came and went but most were only there for a single night.
We were there in a warm snap. Temps were from 1 deg to 14 during the day so be warned, it can get cold. If you want to camp in Victoria in winter get a heater. I have gas and my friends had diesel. Both worked very well. They can both be set on any temp up to 23 degrees and will come on automatically once set. We set it on around 12 degree for the night time.
You can see on the map the areas for camping and we chose Italian Flat. It is all free camping and dogs are allowed.
The waterfall is up the road about 15 k and is at Harrisons cutting. A nice place to visit and have a nic pic.
