My husband and I would like to hit the road sooner rather than later. Are there any nurses out there doing the trip around OZ, if so what have been your experiences getting work either long term or short term? Are there any hints you can pass on ?

G’day Gary – Sharon now that we have national registration you will have no problem finding work
you could register with a national nursing agency and tell them of your plans or go through the local agency in each state.
Friends of our came over from the UK and backpacked around OZ and found plenty of work

Thanks for the info Bill, it is a daunting process as we need to secure work before hitting the road. We are getting inpatient and don’t really want to wait another 5years as we had originally planned. I noticed you are from Victoria Point, what a coincidence as we also live in Victoria Point Qld.

Great news guys. We had a ball at Ilfracombe with you both and now can’t wait to catch up on the road again. Looks like we will be grounded for a while as Coleen is booked in on 19/02/13 to have her other hip replaced. Soon as she is fit again, we are away!!
