Whats your most useful & simple van addition or retro fit?
I’m always keen on new ideas or getting ideas from others that really making camping or vanning that much easier. Sometimes the simplest and cheapest ideas are often the best.
I’ll make a start.
I fitted a hot water tap to the drawbar adjacent to the cold water tap. I’ve found this to be super handy for hot water access without trapsing thru the van to wash my hands (with a soap on tap handy), wash something down, access some hot water to dissolve some Napisan for the loo juice or anything else requiring hot water.
I did the job myself which I’m pretty happy with given my level (read as lack of) handyman skills. I purchased some hot water hose, a john guest push on T fitting and a brass tap capable of being mounted to the drawbar.
I sliced into the hot water line under the hot water cylinder, fitted the T, ran the hose under the floor then attached the tap with a further screw on guest fitting. A couple of screws had the tap mounted and voila – hot water up front at relatively low cost.
Look forward to hearing of others.
cheers

We fitted a heated towel rail in the en suite. Somewhere to hang the towels and they are soon warm & dry when we stop in CP’s.

Two lengths of PVC pipe under the van (front to back), holding two 6m lengths of water hose with fittings.
No more rolling up of water lines, just slide them in and out. Fantastic.
Also eight one meter lengths of interconnecting pool hose for sullage. Easy to store and gives any length from one to eight meters. Also drains better than the smaller diameter hose.
Battery drill to raise and lower corner steadies. (Thanks Ekka).
Sorry I got carried away.

A grab handle just inside the front door to help pull my aging and decrepit frame into the van.
A battery operated senser light in the ensuite with adequate light for the “necessary” in middle of night – it saves having to put the bright bathroom lights on and blind yourself for trip back to bed

Yep did the same Kevin only put the light near the step up into the van – don’t have to turn bright lights on when I get up in the middle of the night to water the hounds.Chawbie wrote:A battery operated senser light in the ensuite with adequate light for the “necessary” in middle of night – it saves having to put the bright bathroom lights on and blind yourself for trip back to bed
