Birdsville Condition Reports

December 16th, 2010

Friday, 28th January 2011

All roads to Birdsville are open. There are a couple of boggy patched down the Birdsville Track but driving to conditions you won’t have a problem. The Simpson Desert is still closed until March. We are experiencing 46-47 degree days at the moment.

Thursday, 13th January 2011

Please remember to check for updated conditions before you go anywhere in Queensland. Parts of the Birdsville Track are closed for the moment due to rain. Emergency services are stretched to the limit with the floods so always check ahead. The Eyre Developmental Road is shut from Birdsville to Bedourie and to the Queensland border.

Police are expecting heavy rains in the area soon, so please be careful and updated. There are serious consequences if people are on flooded roads over next few days, due to the Queensland floods.

Thursday, 30th December 2010

The Birdsville Inside Track is still closed due to flooding and won't be reassessed until January. The Birdsville Track however, is open to 4WD and heavy vehicles with caution.

Thursday, 16th December 2010

The Birdsville Track is open to 4WD and heavy vehicles only. Caution at creek crossings, wheel rutting, and ponded water - take detours to avoid incidents. The Birdsville Developmental Track is open to high clearance vehicles only.
