Boolarra Folk Festival - Vic - March 4th

Post by Lance » Tue Feb 21, 2017 4:52 pm

Boolarra Folk Festival is coming up on Saturday March 4th down in Gippsland.
It's about 2hrs from Melbourne so it's an easy day trip.
If you have a camper or van and feel so inclined there is free camping available at the Boolarra Community Hotel and also at The Recreation Reserve, about 1km from town.
We've been going to this festival for the last 4yrs and it's become one of our favourites.

Have a look here and we may see you down there

Sounds good Lance Trudy and I are probably contenders. :) We might pop up on the Thursday prior.
Our daughter in law was raised in Mirboo Nth.

What a great offer free camping as well. I might give the pub a ring; some thing about pubs attract me. :)

We'll be camped at the BCH on the Friday night after the Festival opening event at Yinnar earlier in the evening.
We'll be in a Hiace, hiroof campervan, come and say Gooday 8-)
Probably be there Satdy night as well.

Live music at the Hotel Satdy night and Sunday as well.
I believe the Strzelecki Stringbusters will be on the sheet.
Here's a bit of info on the ( BCH ) Boolarra Community Hotel..........

Just as an after thought Lance, in your experience, what would be the quietest the reserve and visit the pub, or the pup itself?

If you prefer a quiet night the Rec Reserve (Park Road) would probably suit, but that said, the hotel camping areas are not loud. We prefer the atmosphere at the Hotel during an event but if there's not much on we go down to the reserve after closing.

Boolarra is a quiet spot, but I think the weekend of the Folk Festival it will liven up just a tad, not raucous, just lively. You'll love the day.

Bring an instrument of some sort with you, or buy one at the market held in conjunction with the festival.

I had a look through the info on Boolarra, and even the camps book doesn't show a dump point.

Some times the event holder do designate a toilet or some thing some times. Even the pub might be aware, but does any one have info on the subject?
The only one I have found is a fair way off the grid. :)

There is a public toilet block in the main street which will be incorporated in the market/event area and there will be a p block of portaloos, including disabled, in the concert stage area.

There is no structured amenities block at the pub (YET ;-) ) but I'll check with them as to wether they will be having potaloos in the pub camping area, I reckon they will, but I'll get back to ya on that.
Obviously pub dunnies will be available during open hours.

More local talent being given a chance to perform in a friendly environment.
Small groups are great if you feel a little intimidated or nervy with larger ones.
Looking at that Bayles link took me to Jamalong in Melbourne, just down the road from us.
I'll mention that in anuva thread. 8-)

Yep, next time BM ;-)

They haven't got back to me on the question of Portaloos in the camp area, but I guess we'll all cope, one way or anuva.
