Recommendation for 4WD??

Hello everyone,

I live in Cairns and I am planning a holiday to Sydney with my wife and kids. So, I need to have good 4WD for us. I am planning to hire a 4WD in Cairns in which we can travel to Sydney without any hassle. I have listed a few websites and need your suggestions on them as to which one should I go for.

The roads in Sydney are not that bad that you will need a 4 x 4. Seriously though, will you really need a
4 x 4, particularly in camper style.

Thanks Hank for guiding me through this. I am not aware of the roads in Sydney so, I don’t know which kind of transportation vehicle can best suit my travel needs. Moreover, I am carrying my family with me to the holiday so, I need to give top priority to their comfort and so I had thought of a 4WD. So, could you please suggest me the best one from the options I have previously mentioned? Also, kindly suggest me a good alternative to a 4WD. Please, give me a few options other than a 4WD which would be best suitable for my travel needs and my family comfort.

I must have missed your first post.

As Hank said the roads in Sydney don't need a 4WD. The roads from Cairns to Sydney don't need a 4WD unless you went via Birdsville. As a general rule the roads in Queensland are much worse than the roads in NSW and Victoria.

It would help a great deal if you explained your holiday plans.

- What will you do in Sydney?
- Is that your primary destination?
- Would you come down the most direct route or meander?
- What accommodation have you in mind? Camping/caravan park in the vehicle or motels?
- How many in the family?
- How long will the holiday be from go to whoa?
