House Sitting

Post by elijoh » Tue May 31, 2016 9:39 am

Hi All, just want to find out if anyone has had much experience with house sitting, we are looking at going away for a couple of weeks in July and wouldn't mind someone to stay on our semi rural block in Charters Towers. Ideally would like someone to do some watering of lawns and pots in return for under cover site with power and water. Interested in hearing any comments or interested persons.

We use house sitters when we travel overseas and have had few problems.

Sites such as aussiehousesitters.com.au are useful Most are retired couples and have police clearances.

We have only had one we wouldn't have again - a mid 30's woman from Tasmania who likes to come up to the Port Macquarie region in winter house-sitting. She has trouble stopping talking long enough to listen and ignores written notes. Dogs were fine, but given a year's supply of Frontline in one dose and ran up a phone bill!

Otherwise dogs have been well looked after with house clean and tidy. Generally we get the sitter to spend the night with us before we depart, providing them with a meal and getting the dogs used to them.
