Tasmania expensive
The supermarkets are so expensive compared to the mainland. Been here a week found the road side stalls good value but the supermarkets so expensive double the price for basic veg and we thought this Island was the land of plenty.Sea food is good value from seafood outlets and so fresh.Any one else found this? Bill

Re: Tasmania expensive
yES!!! I guess if one want to visit heaven, and that what Tassie, God's country, one may have to pay a little extra for the privilege. But the experience of Tassie is worth every penny. Jay&Dee

Re: Tasmania expensive
Look at the bright side, you wont spend anywhere near as much on fuel as you would for WA
and yes it is worth every penny

Re: Tasmania expensive
All that locally frown fresh produce and fresh milk was cheaper in Tasmania than at home when we were in Tasmania.

Re: Tasmania expensive
Food may be a little more expensive, however you make up for it in camp fees. There are so many great spots where you can free camp! In our two months in Tassie we only paid a nominal fee at Hobart showgrounds, from memory $20, and two other places at $5 and $10.

Re: Tasmania expensive
My friend and I free camped for 6.3 out of 7 weeks and mainly paid in the Hobart show grounds, no problems with the camps book. I reckon costs balanced out between country and city.
