VW Crafter-M/Benz Sprinter thoughts please

We're looking at moving up from our current Hiace campervan to something a bit bigger.
VW Crafters and M/Benz Sprinters were, and still are very common rental vehicles so I sorta assume they would be reasonably reliable.

Does anyone here have one ?
What are your thoughts ?

I've read lots of reports and as expected I guess there are just about equal numbers of good and bad.

We'll be going with an ex-rental for budget reasons so can't look at the likes of Iveco, but do you have any other ideas ?
